Why Ault Disruptive Technologies (ADRT) Stock Is Falling Today

Author: Henry Khederian | August 16, 2024 10:54am

Ault Disruptive Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:ADRT) shares are trading lower by 15.8% to $12.63 during Friday’s session after the company delivered a termination notice to Gresham, notifying that it was exercising its right to terminate the merger agreement, effective August 15.

This news comes following Gresham’s recent bankruptcy filing. The merger was initially agreed upon in June 2024. No termination fees will be paid by either party.

Despite the termination, Ault Alliance, Inc. says the company will retain majority ownership of both companies, and their boards of directors will continue to share several members.

If you're looking to bet against a company, the process is more complex. You'll need access to an options trading platform, or a broker who will allow you to ‘go short' a share of stock by lending you the shares to sell. The process of shorting a stock can be found at this resource. Otherwise, if your broker allows you to trade options, you can either buy a put option, or sell a call option at a strike price above where shares are currently trading – either way it allows you to profit off of the share price decline.
